Lelia King is a graduate of the Knight School of Communication at Queens University of Charlotte with a  Master of Arts degree in Communication.

As Director of Communications for Charlotte Center City Partners, Lelia is responsible for advancing communications objectives by working with both traditional and alternative media, writing internal and external communications pieces, and creating communications plans for specific projects, programs and events.

During her career as a communications professional, Lelia has developed and implemented strategic communication strategies for clients in a wide range of industries and across multiple platforms. Before joining Charlotte Center City Partners in late 2012, Lelia served as PR and Social Media Manager for Goodwill Industries of the Southern Piedmont, where she facilitated the development of an online community, led media relations efforts, and executed a successful crisis communication plan.

Lelia has also worked as a freelance communications practitioner, copywriter/reporter and new media consultant, and spent three years at an international PR firm in Atlanta as part of the firm’s corporate communications team. She is a member of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Charlotte chapter and was named the Young Professional of the Year for 2013 by PRSA Charlotte.

A native of Birmingham, Alabama, Lelia earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia’s Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication. Lelia spends most of her weekends with her dog Murphy and her husband Matt, who serves as the Senior Pastor of Augusta Road Baptist Church in Greenville, SC.
